We thank Dr Stockdale for her presentation of LSE's undergraduate programmes, studying environment, facilities and career prospect of graduates. UK Summer Camp 2010
A group of 26 students from Forms 1 - 3 participated in a 3-week UK Summer Camp organized by the Excel Academy. With the assistance and guidance of the accompanying teachers, Mr. Gary Chan and Mr. Peter Leung, they had the experience of complete immersion in the English culture, the use of English and the British way of life through attending different workshops, excursions and staying in local host families.

Annual Concert 2010
Our Annual Concert was successfully held at the School Auditorium on 2 July. This year, we were pleased to have joint-performances with St Paul's Secondary School Symphony Orchestra, Good Hope School Band, Sha Tin Government Secondary School Chinese Orchestra and Diocesan Girls' School Percussion Ensemble. Our student, Johnson Leung (5C), was the piano soloist to play Schumann's Piano concerto.
We invited an alumni string quartet, led by John Lam, to play Mendelssohn's repertoire in the Concert. Our Vocapella also gave a marvelous performance and sang two songs. All of our students gained a fruitful experience.
Our team members would like to thank all the conductors and Mr Christian Wan for their invaluable support and guidance.
A 3-day post-examination sports programme for all Form One students was held from 28th to 30th June, 2010. Different sporting events were offered during the programme and our Form 1 students enjoyed it very much.
The Sports Prize Giving Ceremony was held in the school hall last Friday (28/5). It was our honour to have the Principal of Chong Gene Hang College, Mr Li Siu Wah, as our guest of honour.
The prize winners of interclass and interschool competitions received their prizes from our sports conveners as well as our honourable guests.
At the end of the ceremony, Pang Ying Kit(5B) presented the Bauhinia Bowl (the 1st runner up) to our Supervisor, Brother Patrick. Also, Bro Patrick presented a souvenir to our Principal, Mr Wong Yen Kit, who will retire after this academic year.
The Cultural Prize Giving Ceremony was held on April 30, 2010. During the ceremony, we celebrated the good results received by our students in various cultural competitions throughout the year. Numerous awards were presented to the students in recognition of their contributions in the cultural arena, ranging from speech, music, dance, visual arts to drama. Talented representatives from respective cultural teams also performed at the ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, our student representatives presented Chinese Calligraphy to our Principal, Mr Wong Yen Kit, wishing him a health and happiness in his retirement.

Lasallian Forum 2010
The Student Association wants to express their most heartfelt thanks to the Honourable Wong Yan Lung, Secretary for Justice of HKSAR for gracing the Lasallian Forum today. Mr Wong gave a most invigorating speech on Striving for Excellence, which can be achieved by everyone. He showed examples of ways to attain the goal with interesting personal stories and anecdotes.
Mr Wong has given us some real food for thought and yardsticks for achieving excellence. Students have learnt a great lesson through the Forum which is also fun and full of humour.
We are privileged to have the permission of Mr Wong to put his speech in Lasallite 2010. It will be a great reading and a chance for students who did not attend the Forum to learn from Mr Wong.

Form Assembly
The Guidance Team organized a talk on '戀愛中的情與性' for F. 3 and F. 4 students on 19th April 2010.
We had cordially invited Ms Atty Ching ( 程翠雲姑娘 ) to be our guest speaker. Ms Atty Ching is a well-known sex educator, an experienced sex therapist and a family marriage counselor. She started The Teenaids Organization in 1995. She has also held numerous workshops in different universities in Hong Kong and spoken in various media about sex education.
The presentation was impressive and the response was overwhelming. Participants could gain more knowledge about sex education and learn to make decisions responsibly.

Careers Program – JA It's My Business!
A careers program "It's My Business" jointly organized by the Careers Guidance Team and Junior Achievement Hong Kong for Form 1 and 2 students was successfully held on 20th and 27th March, 2010. Two classes, one in Cantonese and one in English, were conducted for about 50 participants. Students were led through various activities which gave them a broader understanding towards the business world.

The Assembly Team would like to announce that the F.5 Graduation Assembly had been held in the Large Lecture Theatre on 31st March 2010.
We must express our sincerely thanks to Mr. Charles Chan, OBA president, and Dr. Steven Wong, PTA Chairman for their kind assistance to present the Good Student Awards to all the recipients.
During the assembly, our Supervisor, Br. Patrick and Principal, Mr. Wong advised the graduates to cherish their La Salle experiences and work hard for the open exam in their respective speeches.

Hong Kong Lasallian Youth Movement
The Brother Superior General of the worldwide Lasallian Family, Rev. Brother Álvaro Rodríguez Echeverria, met representatives of the Hong Kong Lasallian Youth Movement (HKLYM) on Saturday as his final official function during his visit to Hong Kong. Rev. Brother Thomas Lavin, the Brother Visitor, and Rev. Brother Patrick Tierney were also present at the gathering.
During the gathering, the Executive Committee Members of the HKLYM had introduced their work to Brother Álvaro. Meanwhile, Brother Álvaro had encouraged the members to continue their good work and contribution. He also
highlighted the importance of 'Community' under the Lasallian Spirit.

Form 4 Mass Lecture, Exhibition and Workshop
The Art Department had organized a talk on "From Classic to Mass Culture" for F.4 students on 19th March 2010.
We cordially invited Mr. Chow Chun Fai to be the guest speaker. Mr. Chow is a famous artist in Hong Kong. He graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Department of Fine Arts (BA and MFA), and is an active member of Fotanian Artist Village. His works have been exhibited in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Manchester, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Palermo, and Verona.
During the assembly, Mr. Chow illustrated how to appreciate his paintings and photography. His talk was impressive and the response was overwhelming.
Also, it is our pleasure to show his 6 paintings from 17/3 to 24/3 in the Main Entrance. A photo workshop "Photomontage" will be held on 27th March 2010 in 4/F Art Room. All students are welcome to join the exhibition and workshop!

Civic Education Team
The Civic Education Team would like to announce that a talk on "Bullying and Theft" had been held in the Large Lecture Theatre on 16th March 2010 for all the Form two students.
Mr. Lam, a school liaison officer from the Police Department elaborated the classifications and consequences of bullying as well as theft.
After the talk, an award presentation was held. 56 students received the good-student-awards, and 7 students received the Lion & Globe best-improved awards from the Principal Mr. Wong.

Form 4 Mass Lecture
A talk on "Artist under the Wonderful Landscape" (一流山水下的創作生活) organized by the Art Department was held in the School Hall for our F.4 students on 23rd February 2010.
It was our pleasure to have invited Mr. Lui Chun Kwong to be the guest speaker. Mr. Lui is a famous artist in Hong Kong. He was a professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1984 to 2009.
During the assembly, Mr. Lui illustrated how to appreciate art and how to be an artist. His talk was impressive and the response was overwhelming.

Family Fun Day 2010
The Family Fun Day 2010 came to a spectacular ending on 7th Feb last Sunday. This was a most successful year which saw an unprecedented surge in the number of participating students, teachers, parents, Old Boys and visitors. Mr Wilfred Ng, JP, officiated at the Opening Ceremony of the resurfaced School Track and Field which took place together with the Opening Ceremony of the Family Fun Day. The day was full of fun with dragon dance by LSPS, lion dance by the Student Association, mouth-watering food prepared by F.1 parents and students as well as the PTA, challenging games and quizzes prepared by F.2 students and parents, F.4 classes, Student Association, LSPSPTA and OBA, and exquisite products specially made for the occasion by some parents and the Student Association. We have received tremendous warming compliments from all parties. We'd like to thank all working parties for their contribution in various ways, all of which has added up to the success of the day.

Form 4 Assembly
The Civic Education Team had organised a Form Assembly for the F.4 students on 17th November 2009.
Speaker from the Police Department, Mr. Lam had briefed the students on the topic "Legal Concerns of Drug Abuse".
He also encouraged the students to ask and answer questions on the topic during the Q&A sessions.
Before the assembly ended, Mr. Lam also introduced the relevant websites and hot lines to our students for further information about "Drug Abuse".

Form 2 & 3 Assembly
the Form Assembly Team and the Civic Education Team had organised a Form Assembly on the topic "The Physical and Psychological Problems of Drug Abuse" for the F.2 and F.3 students on 23rd November 2009.
We had cordially invited Doctor Tsang Fan-kwong to be the guest speaker. Dr. Tsang is the Chairman of the Executive Committee, Institute of Mental Health, Castle Peak Hospital. As a specialist in Psychiatry, Dr Tsang is actively involving in patient care, training and supervision, research, public mental health education and administrative duties. He also speaks to different audience groups on stress management, prevention of drug abuse and building better child-parent relationship
During the assembly, Dr. Tsang had illustrated the following issues by relating examples and stories.
· The common kinds of drugs in Hong Kong
· Why and how youngsters become drug addicts?
· The health problems after taking drugs
· How to say "no" to drugs?

Sports Day was held in our sports grounds today. It was our pleasure to have invited Mr Mark Huang, the Vice President of our Old Boys Association, as our guest of honour.

We are honoured and privileged to have Ms. Zhang Ping, gold medalist of 2004 Olympic Games, to coach our school volleyball team. It is an invaluable and precious opportunity for us to meet this experienced national team member. All of us learnt special tactics and techniques which are very useful. Today was the first English Arena for this year. Four boys from 5F shared their views and concerns about hot topics that currently affect the youth on Hong Kong. Comments were given by Mr Addison and book vouchers were presented to the speakers by our principal, Mr. Wong. English Arena will be held in the garden on Thursdays at 12:30pm.

Annual Swimming Gala
The Annual Swimming Gala was held in our swimming pool today. It was our pleasure to have invited Mr Paul Law, the Old Boy Manager of our Swimming Team, as our guest of honour. Also, we would like to express our gratitude to the guest speaker from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to give our students a talk on the Hong Kong 2009 East Asian Games in the School Hall.
Our boys have put in enormous efforts in the game, and a lot of records were broken. Eventually, Form 5C captured the overall Champion in the Swimming Gala this year. Winners received their prizes from our guest of honour, Mr Paul Law, our Supervisor, Rev. Bro. Patrick, as well as our Principal, Mr Wong Yen Kit.
The day was rounded up successfully after the prize giving ceremony and the school song.
Today was a Casual Dress Day, teachers and students enthusiastically participated in the event. Instead of their school uniform, students came to school in their favourite sports wear or casual clothes.
The donations raised will be donated to the Community Chest.

Student Association Presidential Election
The Presidential Election of Student Association 2009-10 was held today. The Presidential Election Committee announced that there had been no violation of rules and regulations nor major complaints reported. The election, from promotion to voting, has been conducted in an orderly, fair, and respectful manner.

The appeal period will last until 15th Sept Tuesday. The Inauguration Ceremony will be held on 17th Sept Thursday in the School Hall.
The Steering Committee would like to thank the Presidential Election Committee for their hard work throughout the election period and all students for their participation. It has been a good civic educaiorn lesson for all.

Lasallian Forum 2009
The Student Association is honored to have invited Professor Sydney Chung to be the keynote speaker at the Lasallian Forum 2009. The topic is " From Dream- to Goal- to Reality". Professor Chung gave an inspiring talk about how young people can actualize idealism into reality. In the forum that followed, he talked with the 7 ex-committee members about various topics, from medical system in H.K.to H1N1 Influenza, attempt to combine Chinese and Western medicine in practice, use of English in school, elitism and excellence, to his own experience in realizing dream. Professor Chung then took questions from the floor. Students threw in different questions which were met with candid and soul-searching answers. The Student Association would like to thank Professor Sydney Chung for his wonderful sharing and the enthusiastic support of students for the Forum.

The 75th Anniversary Closing Mass
The 75th Anniversary Closing Mass was held in the school hall of La Salle Primary School on 20th December 2007, we were glad to have Father Lui and Father Alex be the Celebrants. At the end of the mass, Rev. Brother Patrick, our Acting Supervisor, declared the official closing of the 75th Jubilee Celebration and also expressed his gratitude to all parties who have strongly supported the celebration throughout the year.
